Dixie Smith is a multi-media artist who just loves to create art.  Her first choice is acrylic painting but she also enjoys computer generated art (see featured Gulf of Mexico Mosaic), hand built pottery, woodworking, jewelry design, sewing, and on and on. Born in  1951 in Arkansas and raised in the gorgeous green Appalachian mountains of Pennslyvania, she developed an appreciation for nature's majestic surroundings as she honed her God given gift to create something from nothing. Exhibiting a powerful compusion for creative expression made it clear from the beginning that Dixie's life would focus on a deep rooted passion for art.  As soon as she was able to hold a crayon she knew her calling, proclaming from the age of 4 that she was going to be an artist.  Dixie earned a degree in art at a Pennsylvania State University where she met her life long companion and best friend...Smitty.  "Going thru life with Smitty is like being a one-person audience to a combination of Bob Hope and Johnny Carson.  He makes me laugh so much.  He is a true king of the one-liners.  That sunshine is reflected in my art.  Thank you, Smitty."

Over the years Dixiee has produced art work for private and public settings.  She is now looking forward to retirment from an administration career and more time to devote to her art. She currently lives in Corpus Christi, Texas with her husband Smitty, and two dogs.
